Production involved from the design stage
When design and manufacturing go hand in hand, potential challenges are identified before they reach production.
Together with the customer, we review, for example, how the product should be manufactured, how we ensure sustainability throughout the value chain, how assembly can be implemented as smoothly as possible, where the structure can be simplified, and what production or testing will require.
Small changes can often save significant time, material, and work stages.
From prototype to production
In practice, industrialization means making the product production-ready.
We manufacture prototypes, test solutions, and ensure that the product can be manufactured with consistent quality and at target costs, even in larger series. At the same time, we design the necessary tools, jigs, and production solutions to support manufacturing.
Part of a unified delivery entity
For us, design and industrialization are not a separate service, but part of the whole.
When the same partner is responsible for industrialization, tooling, and manufacturing, solutions can be made designed with production in mind from the very beginning. This speeds up implementation and reduces the need for changes and costs in later stages.
The goal of industrialization is to get the product into manufacturing in a controlled manner, ensure consistent quality, and make sure production works as planned from the very first unit. This way, production does not have to be reinvented every time.
Procurement and sustainability included from the start
Industrialization also takes into account materials, component availability, obtainability, quality requirements, testing, and traceability. When these matters are considered before volume production, production starts more smoothly and the need for later changes is reduced.
Sustainability cuts through the entire manufacturing chain. In Stera’s procurement, in addition to price and quality, the environment, working conditions, human rights, and business ethics are taken into account. We build the prerequisites for sustainability reporting already in the design and industrialization phase.
How quality is ensured in practice
Stera’s quality management is based on certified systems and inspection points extending throughout the production chain. Quality is ensured starting from the design phase and it follows through procurement, manufacturing, assembly, and delivery.
In practice, this means, for example:
- defined and documented work stages throughout the production chain
- incoming inspections for materials and components
- process-specific quality assurance points during manufacturing
- measurement, testing, and approval of the final product before delivery
- traceability from material to finished product
- deviation management and continuous improvement
Quality management is not a separate function, but part of daily production. We want every delivered product to meet the defined requirements and function in its intended operating environment.
