Stera Technologies Oy will move the production operations of its Itäharju factory in Turku to Naantali and Kaarina by the end of 2024. The company has operated at the Itäharju factory since 1970, initially as Hihra Oy and later as Stera.
The company’s electronics business already moved during 2023 to Stera’s factory in Luolala, Naantali. The Naantali factory now employs more than 60 people, and its workforce has doubled since Stera acquired Naantali-based Protopaja Oy two years ago. Stera’s head office will also be based at the Naantali site. Since spring 2024, Naantali has also been the registered municipality of both Stera Technologies Oy and its parent company, Stera Group Oy.
The mechanical production operations of Stera’s Turku factory and their more than 80 employees will move during 2024 to production facilities in Piispanristi, Kaarina. The Piispanristi property is historically known as Tunturi’s fitness equipment factory. Industrial production will now return to the factory after a break of more than twenty years. The property is ideally suited to Stera’s production and logistics processes, and its location also makes the workforce’s move from Itäharju to the new Piispanristi factory straightforward.
These facility arrangements are part of the Group’s long-term growth strategy and will enable production operations to expand in the Turku region in the future.
